Fly for Scala 1.2.4

The latest version of Fly for Scala has been released and is available at http://www.flyobjectspace.com/.

This new version requires Scala 2.7.4 at least, but in the last few days Scala 2.7.5 has been released which addresses some issues related to Actors so I advise using 2.7.5.

The significant new features of this release are:

  • Fly now has an IANA port number of 4396 so this is the default.
  • Much improved algorithm for finding Fly servers on the network

Potentially breaking changes:

  • The target platform is Java 5 JVM + Scala 2.7.4

Breaking changes:

  • Due to port number changes both Stubs and Fly server are not backwards compatible with previous releases.
  • MakeFly has been replaced by FlyFactory to be consistent with the Java client.
